1. What has the last year been like for Beyond Within?
The last year has been spent writing new material and preparing for our next visit to the studio. We have been stuck with a bit of down time as our drummer Paul is currently in school and is leaving to pursue his family responsibilities. So our live appearances and traveling have been limited, we've managed to record a new track which can be found on our myspace (www.myspace.com/beyondwithin) as well as 3 new t shirt designs which have been selling quite well (www.beyondwithin.bigcartel.com) We're still hunting for a suitable replacement for Paul so at the moment we're writing as much as we can and hunting for a new drummer.

2. Has your sound changed?
Definately, we've all evolved as musicians over the last 7 years and our musical tastes have changed as well. Line-up changes have introduced new strengths to our current line up and we have new goals set.

3. What makes Beyond Within different from other bands?
We all come from various musical backgrounds and influences, we've found it hard over the years to label ourselves to a specific sub-genre of metal so we've always just called ourselves "metal". Over the years our style has progressed and our song writing has evolved drastically.

4. Have you changed much as a group or personally?
Yes, we've matured quite a bit since day 1. New responsibilities have taken away from band time for some members. So we need to each use our own practice time towards bettering ourselves and writing as opposed to our previous 2-3 times a week practice schedule.

5. What's the most fun about touring?
We haven't toured as much as we would like to due to work/family responsibilities but are working towards being a touring act. Playing for new faces is always an exciting experience and getting to see our country at the same time with our best friends is always a blast.

6. Describe what it feels like to perform on stage?
Its a phenomenal feeling performing for an audience be it other bands and their girlfriends in an empty venue, or a packed crowd. Seeing people react in different ways to something you've created is one of the best feelings in the world. We often find that times flies so much quicker on stage, we'll finish our last song but feel like we've just started.

7. What do you want people to remember after going to see you perform live?
We want people who see us live to leave with a smile on their face, some bands come on stage with a serious approach and while we take what we do quite seriously, we're also there to have a good time and see people in the crowd having a good time. We want to show people what we can do as musicians and hopefully they will go home and listen to our music and show their friends .

8. How would you describe your sound?
We're taking a more aggressive approach with our music and pulling influences from the death metal genre.

9. What motivates Beyond Within?
Seeing people wearing our t shirts and supporting us at our shows is one of the biggest motivators. We have lost many members over the years and come close to calling it quits a few times, but seeing people who enjoy what we do and stand behind it makes it easier to keep going.

10. Where did the name come from?

When we first started the group we booked our first concert but didn't have a name, we eventually decided on Beyond Within after a song from a band called Nevermore whos lyrics we felt encompassed what we were writing about at the time. We weren't planning on keeping the name, but after a few shows it stuck around
