  1. What has the last year been like for M.O.?

The last year has been hectic…but good haha. I’ve just been grinding, doing shows, making music, getting ready to release my first solo album, “Vicarious”, which will be officially released early new year.

  1. What makes M.O. different than other bands?

I think what makes me, as an artist, different, especially in Canada, is the quality and authenticity of my music. There’s too much mimicking of the states going on North of the boarder. I like to do my own thing, make great music and put on a hell of a show. That’s another thing that stands out about me is that I perform with a live band and DJ, which makes for a much more interesting show. Plus no one on the corner got swagger like me lol.

  1. What’s the most fun about touring?

Just visiting new places, meeting new people. It’s an amazing thing to get paid to travel and see places you’d never normally get to see.

  1. Describe what it feels like to perform on stage?

For me, performing is just fun. It’s a release. No matter what’s going on in your life or how stressed out about the schedule or whatever, once I’m on stage, nothing else matters. I can just be me and have fun with the crowd. I like to turn my shows into parties, always. So it’s amazing being able to party with 10 people that might be in the crowd or 5000 people who are there.

  1. What do you want people to remember after going to see you perform live?

I want people to walk away with the experience of seeing M.O. I don’t want them to feel like they just went to a concert. I want them to have the feeling like they were a part of it. Like they danced all night or they connected with a certain song. I like the crowd to have as much part in making it an enjoyable experience as me.

  1. How would you describe your sound?

Real. I don’t like to pigeonhole myself. I make hip hop but I also flirt with other genres. I have some acoustic stuff; I’m into some electro. But regardless, pretty much everything I write about is real to me. I’ve either experienced it first hand or through someone close to me.

  1. What has been the biggest obstacle?

I feel like everyone’s biggest obstacle is themselves, myself included. You can do anything you put your mind to but you gotta do it. No one else will do it for you. I sometimes get too caught up in life and lose focus but that all part of being an artist. I’m inspired by the things that happen in my life.

I don’t wanna blame the Canadian music scene for being an obstacle for Canadian artists’, event though we got a long way to go. I think Canada is on its way to really putting ourselves on the music map.

  1. What motivates M.O.?

I’m motivated by music, life and money. I love all 3 so that what keeps me going. My friends and family keep me grounded but these things drive me to keep going.

  1. What are the bands favourite plans?

We’re working really hard setting everything up for the release of “Vicarious”. So definitely a lot of touring. We’re gonna do Canada and then Europe and Asia.

  1. Where can people go to listen to you?

The new website is up www.mdoto.ca , or www.myspace.com/mdotodot and if you haven’t heard the previous 4 albums I’ve released with my group FAMN, then check out www.famn.ca .

  1. Any final thoughts?

Live life to the fullest, don’t sweat the small things and cop that “Vicarious” album.
Peace.
