The Coggs

The

1. What has the last year been like for The Coggs?
-continued sales of our Album "Mean Dog Howl" which was released in Nov. 2007.
-got a new drummer in May of 2008, who provides a heavier rock sound.
-our first East coast tour in July was very successful.
-stopped playing our regular house gig every Friday at The Rainbow in Ottawa. This has allowed us more time to travel and more time to practice privately. It has changed our writing style, in that we can try out new ideas and jam until we come up with stuff, instead of trying to work out tunes on the fly in front of a crowd.

2 Has your sound changed?
- our sound is heavier and more calculated, leaning more to the Punk side of Blues-Punk. Also, Sam and Travis are now singing backup harmonies, which provides a lot more depth to our overall sound.

3. What makes The Coggs different than other bands?
We never have set-lists, and every show is completely different. You may hear something that we just make up completely on the spot,or a new tune we just hashed out, or a cover song we've never even tried before. It's very loose as far as what's gonna happen and we try to react and become what the audience needs to hear at the time. We are pretty brave that way. We may have influences that we sort of sound like, but nobody quite sounds like The Coggs.

4 Have you changed much as a group or personally?
Hmmmmmmm... New Drummer, ....3 BEARDS....NO BEARDS.....1 MUSTACHE....2 BEARDS AGAIN....NO MUSTACHE....NO BEARDS... and finally....1 BEARD, 1 MUSTACHE and some CHOPs......then back to 1 BEARD.

5 What's the most fun about touring?
-The fact that each show is completely different. You get tired of the same old venues in town and look forward to all the surprises that the road brings. Whether it's 2 people or 200, you give'r and hope they'll ask you back. All the new people and bands we met this year was the best part.

6 Describe what it feels like to perform on stage?
For us, it's a total workout until exhaustion, and beyond. Our eyes burn with sweat and we have to occasionally remind each other to breathe. There's been a few times where i thought i wouldn't make it out alive. And when the crowd is right there with you, it doesn't get any better. With no set list, my mind tends to wander to....what song we gonna do next?..

8 What do you want people to remember after going to see you perform live?
We just hope they remeber to pay there tabs.........and then tell thier friends that The Coggs pretty near killed ém.

9 How would you describe your sound?
Blues-Driven-Punk-Rock Dance Party......with streamers and everything.

10. What motivates The Coggs?
Making good quality rock n roll that is different + original that makes us and others feel good and........Self-Employment. Workin for the man is getting old....................o yeah, and Hamish's mustache and Pabst Blue Ribbon
